Red lips can be a tough look to pull off. I especially don't like when I start the evening with a bold color and moments later it's all worn off. I usually notice it in photographs...where did my lipstick go?!
Scarlett Johansson was recently out and about with scarlet lips -- and you know she was smooching her sexy hubby Ryan Reynolds.
How does she get it to stay on?
InStyle magazine has a great feature called Fall Beauty: From Runway to Red-Carpet where makeup artist Tom Pecheux talked about creating this look for the YSL runway show. "Red lips make women feel powerful," he says, and I agree.
Pecheux says to outline just inside your natural lip line with a color like Nars Lipliner pencil in Jungle Red for well-defined shape. Next, use a fine brush to fill in with bright crimson lipstick -- darker shades can look muddy. He used YSL Rouge Volupte in Red Muse.
Of course you can also use a long wearing lipstick, but the liner definitely helps make even that last longer.
I really love the color. I think it looks really fresh with no eye makeup, too. Just a pop of color on the lips.
Do you wear red lipstick? How do you get it to last the longest?
