Missoni knits seen above left -- I'm in love. But not in love with Missoni prices. So why not knit your own?
Ladies who knit -- I'm jealous. I've got to learn! I've talked about wanting to learn how to crochet (haven't learned that yet either) and I do embroider (I can't believe how easy it is!). So I should be able to conquer the craft of knitting, right?
I'll try.
InStyle magazine featured this Wool and the Gang kit (love the name) that can help even a beginner get started. They even have how to knit videos online. The kit is $85 or check out a local knitting shop for your supplies.
You can also join the Knit & Crochet Mom group for more tips.

I knit on occasion. it is right up there with many other hobbies I enjoy but don't seem to make time for.
I'm knitting a poncho for one of my girls right now and I'm in the process of knitting 2 different sweaters (ran out of yarn for the one) and crocheting several different afghans. I have ADD so it works better to have several projects to rotate through when I get bored.
I taught myself to knit from a book in 2005 and then to crochet the next summer. I mostly make stuff for the kids (sweaters, hats, toys) because it takes too long to knit something in my size. I get bored too easily. And the more complicated the pattern the better. It has to keep my interest.
I crochet :) but mostly when the weather turns cooler.
I find knitting to be almost a meditation. I have been knitting since I was a small child. I even taught beginning knitting at a college a few years ago! If you don't want to spend 85 dollars, there are a lot of great learn to knit sites and videos that are online or at the library! As complicated as that super scarf looks, you could do it very easily once you learn some basics and fisherman patterns!
Be careful though, knitting is addicting...buying cool yarns even more so! I have so much yarn I could knit a house if it would stand up!
I'm a knitter also. I just started last year when my mom was diagnosed with cancer (she's the knitter) I thought I better learn now before it is to late to have her teach me. So, I am knitting scarves. I am in the process of learning how to knit by pattern. I am stoked! It's a fun craft. But, I really gravitate towards quilting and embroidering because it's known territory.
