Summer Makeup Essentials

Heat and makeup -- two words that do not go well together. But just because it's summer doesn't mean this makeup loving mama can't wear a bit of color on her face...even on the most humid of days.
There are three summer makeup essentials that helps me look polished, but not overdone.
- Mascara -- I don't like leaving the house without some long, dark lashes. In summer, particularly when I am going to be at the beach or pool, I go with a waterproof or water-resistant mascara. L'Oreal Voluminous ($6.99) is my favorite mascara (they have it in waterproof, too), but I also really love Jane Iredale's Pure Lash ($15) water-resistant mascara.
- Bronzer -- The key here is to not over-bronze and to make sure you blend. I like to do a light dusting, then just dab a little extra on the apples of my cheeks for a kiss of tan. Sephora's Bronzer Powder ($16) has SPF 15 and comes in four different shades.
- Lip Stain -- Forget lipstick or gloss, lip stain gives your smooch a more natural look, which is better for daytime. Plus you won't feel all made up, yet you'll still have color on your pout. I love Cover Girl's Outlast ($7.49) and Bloom's Lipstain ($22). Both go on like a marker and last.
What are your favorite summer makeup looks?

I'm in search of ANY makeup products that won't instantly melt off my face. lol It feels like a waste of time to wear makeup out of the house during the summer, it's gone by the time I reach the car. Gotta love that Texas heat.

I find that a face primer helps my makeup last all day. I have used expensive ones from dept.stores to inexpensive from the drug store- and quite honestly havent had problems with either.

it includes applying Aveda's triple accent crayon for eyes, cheeks and lips to my lips most often...or on all three when I'm going all out :)...
must say, even in hot, humid, sweat-inducing heat, it's fairly melt-off-your-face proof.
