Mascara: Now With Tubes

Michele Zipp

mascara tubesI had a new mascara in my bathroom for about two weeks before I tried it. I'll be honest with you...I was scared. It's a kind of expensive mascara that "tubes" your lashes instead of "painting" color on them and it's supposed to make them look longer and work better than regular mascara. To remove, you just use warm water and the tubes come off. It came with very specific directions. I thought it would make my lashes fall out. So it sat there on my bathroom counter until I finally gave it a go last weekend.

In case you didn't know, I am a mascara lover. Can't leave home without it. So I was intrigued. Longer lashes? Me likey.

But did I like this new formula for my lashes?

Nope. I didn't think it made them look longer than my favorite drugstore brand mascaraL'Oreal Voluminous, or even the pricier Benefit BADGal Lash.

I will admit that a brand new, never been used before Voluminous takes more uses for me to really get the lash look I like -- I wish the bristles were thicker. But after a couple of uses, they have enough product on them to really make my lashes standout.

But back to the mascara with tubes...even L'Oreal has a version out. It's called Double Extend Beauty Tubes Mascara and it works the same way. I haven't tried it yet, but am thinking maybe I just don't like the tubes. I will say the tubes are easier to remove than my favorite -- and it didn't make my lashes fall out. Phew.

Have you tried mascara with tubes? What did you think?
