My nails are in serious need of a manicure -- many hang nails and dry cuticles -- but who has the time or money to get them done?! And worst of all, my nails look dull and stained from the dark nail polish I've been wearing. I just want to wear a clear coat, but I've got to brighten them up first.
Guess what? I can use lemons for this!
The other day on my local news, I caught the end of a segment where they were discussing inexpensive DIY beauty solutions -- one of my favorite topics!
We all know that lemons can lighten your hair if you spray some lemon juice in and sit out in the sun, but it can also lighten and whiten your nails -- plus it strengthens them, too. Add in a little honey for moisturizing, detoxifying, and cleansing, and you've got a great hand soak. It works and smells really good!
You will need:
- 4 tablespoons of lemon juice squeezed from lemons
- 2 tablespoons of honey
- 1cup of warm water
- Bowl to fit both your hands
Combine ingredients in bowl and mix. Soak fingertips for about 5 to 7 minutes. Your cuticles will be soft and easy to push back.
To whiten your your nails more, squeeze a few drops of lemon juice into a cotton ball with a drop of water. Rub over nails. Repeat 3 times.
Rinse hands and moisturize with your favorite lotion.
