poo free shampoo

CafeMom schools me everyday, but when I read a post about being "poo free" I immediately thought about, well...poop. I thought, Are moms teaching kids not to go number two? What is heck this about? LOL.

Turns out it's 'poo, short for shampoo, and lots of CafeMoms have tried a 'poo free way of life.

CafeMom Mommygoose wrote about her 'poo free endeavor in the group Green Organic Natural Simple Living. Instead of shampoo, she uses half a tablespoon of baking soda, then rinses out with water, and follows with an apple cider vinegar rinse. Some CafeMoms have been 'poo free for months and their hair adjusted well, while others couldn't go 'poo free very long without having too much oil.

amileegirl has a very informative journal post all about being shampoo free. Many choose to stop using shampoo because some of it contains a lot of chemicals. And, according to amileegirl, if you can withstand a week or so of greasy hair, it will eventually stabilize and be healthier.

ednakrabapple had "tried to be 'poo free, couldn't take it and went back to 'poo." That may be my most favorite group post title ever. She lasted four weeks. But there are many who swear by it.

Have you gone poo free? If not, would you ever try it?
