Did you know that February is National Embroidery Month? Crafty mamas rejoice! Clothes look adorable when embellished with hand-sewn designs -- it's gives it a delicate, folksy appeal. I have a lot of embroidered clothes in my closet, even some I embroidered myself! It's not that difficult...you can do it, too.
When my niece was still in my sister's belly, I embroidered a onesie for her with a bunny on it. It was the cutest thing I ever saw. I also embroidered a vintage shirt for my husband (seen at right) a few years ago and to this day, it's still one of his favorites.
I used Stitch-It Kit ($22.95) by Jenny Hart -- it has all you need to embroider with super easy, illustrated instructions. Jenny has a new one out called Sublime Stitching ($19.95) that I really want.
In case you aren't the crafty type, you can always purchase clothes that are embroidered. Vintage embroidery is my favorite and I love Mexican style the best. How adorable is this Vintage Navy Blue Mexican Embroidered Dress ($39.50, top left) from Santoki Vintage on Etsy!
Urban Outfitters' Kimchi Blue Embroidered Scallop Dress ($88, top right) is equally sweet.

And check out these boots from Cherry Picked Vintage on Etsy. Not for everyone, but wow! Love them!

I WOULD LOVE TO EMBROIDER BUT NEVER LEARNED HOW. IF THERE WERE A STEP BY STEP VIDEO IT WOULD BE WONDERFUL AS I DO NOT DO TOO WELL READING INSTRUCTIONS. INSTRUCTION MANU
My sewing machine does some simple embroidery. I need to sit down and figure it out. I love this stuff. I'd definitely need a Stitch-It Kid, though.
I used to do a ton of French Silk Ribbon embroidery, it's very pretty and fun and easy to do!

Been a while...
I definitely should get back into doing it, and teaching it as I once did.

embroidery is so very easy. i have been doing it for years and have hundreds of patterns. you can buy iron on patterns if you want and use any stitch that you would like...even combine them. everything just looks so very pretty with an embroidered design on it.... i didnt know that feb was national embroidery month...thanks for the info...
