I'm Mad for Handbags

Vanessa bag by Ananas

I've got one of those closet organizers specifically for handbags...the pockets are filled with every kind of bag you can imagine. I'm not alone...CafeMom has groups dedicated to the pursuit of the purse. You can check out Purse-A-Holic Mommies and Handbag Addicts! to bond with women who have the same affliction.

I know one mama whose 7-year-old son gives her suggestions on how to sell her handbags...talk about keeping it in the family!

Lou Lou bag by Ananas

This woman is Jennifer Baum Lagdameo, mom to Eli, and owner and designer of Ananas handbags. Eli's suggestion? Have a lemonade stand so his mom can sell her bags at it, too. Eli might be onto something, but Jennifer also sells online and in major department stores. In fact, Anne Hathaway and Jennifer Garner are fans. I asked the bag maven what trends she loved for fall. She said the "lush bohemian look" along with patent leather and rich colors were big inspirations to her fall collection.

"As a mom, I love the messenger styles the best. I love the Lou Lou ($265) for weekends when I try to carry less and the Vanessa ($530) for workdays," she told me. I love the Vanessa! Also love how she gives the bags great names.

I know what she's saying about trying to carry less. Don't you wish you could? I swear sometimes my bag outweighs a 3-year-old!

If you don't have the cash right now to splurge on one of her bags, the Saddle Up Bag ($39.50 from Alloy) is roomy with lots of pockets for quick grab items like the keys or a pacifier.

Which handbag are you loving for fall?
