DIY Beauty: Chamomile Tea Foot Soak

chamomile foot soakI really neglect my feet in the winter and haven't had a pedicure or even polished my nails in forever. When I looked down at my toes yesterday, I really need to do something about those! And I don't mean playing footsie with my husband -- I didn't even want him to rub my feet the other night because they were kind of stinky from being in woolly socks and warm boots all day. So, I pampered myself with this Chamomile Tea Foot Soak recipe. Heaven!

The chamomile helps to relive puffiness and just the scent of it made me relax. I even made a cup for me to drink. I have to say, it really helped me chill out, de-stress from the day, and fall asleep fast...without waking up a zillion times like I usually do. Hmm...I could get used to this.

You will need:

  • A large bowl or basin to fit your feet
  • 4 chamomile tea bags
  • 1/2 cup Epsom salt (great for achy, smelly, rough, and tired feet)
  • 3 tablespoons of honey

How to:

  1. Pick a comfortable spot for soak. Do it right in your living room with a towel under bowl so you can watch TV or separate yourself from distractions and have some moments of zen alone in your bathroom or bedroom. Make sure seat is comfy.
  2. Boil a teapot of water and place in basin with tea bags, Epsom salt, and honey. Stir and let sit for 10 minutes. (I used this time to take off the chipped nail polish and fix my own cup of chamomile tea.)
  3. Test water so it's at comfortable temperature. Add more warm or cool water to suit.
  4. Soak for 15 - 25 minutes.
  5. Optional: Add some marbles to the bottom of the basin -- it feels soothing on your feet.
  6. Dry feet thoroughly, then moisturize with your favorite lotion.
  7. Finish with polish after removing any excess lotion on nails with remover. i don't know about you, but I love red toenails.

Your feet will thank you!
