Oatmeal is a staple in a lot of our homes -- it's easy to make and good for us. And it's also great as a face mask.
Already used in a lot of cosmetics (from shampoo to face powder), oatmeal has soothing, anti-inflammatory properties that makes it great for acne, oily, and itchy winter skin (it sure makes a great cookie, too).
Thanks to CafeMom nikki.b. for posting a great oatmeal face mask recipe in the Wisdom Drops group.
You will need:
- 1/2 cup of purified water (I think tap water should be fine, too)
- 1/4 cup of instant oatmeal (finely ground is best)
- 2 teaspoons of honey
- 1 tablespoon of cinnamon powder
- A few drops of milk
How to prepare:
Put the water in a microwave and heat it for two minutes. Mix in the rest of the ingredients to make a paste and break up the oatmeal flakes. If too soupy, mix in a little more oatmeal so it's thicker. Test the temperature first, then apply to your face avoiding eye area. Leave it on for 15 to 30 minutes. Rinse for some smooth skin.
Have you ever tried an oatmeal face mask?
Sounds like a great treat for tonight while I'm watching American Idol (I recorded it since I missed last night).

I'll pick up my honey tmrw and give it a try! Thanks for sharing.....
Love this idea, in fact I think it has been around. I believe my mom used to do this - and she has the BEST skin still. She is absolutely gorgeous and gonna turn 56 this year. No one can believe it when they see her. Would love more great inexpensive ideas like this one. God knows I need the help, lol.
i will try this. i keep breaking out and nothing works.
I tried this. The cinnamon burns! Icy hot. The recipe makes enough for a crowd! I only started to apply it when I felt the burn. So I wiped it off. I made a smaller batch without the cinnamon, and it was still great.
I just tried it and it does make skin soft! Warning do a spot test because everywhere it touched turned red. I look like I have a very bad sunburn right now!
