What to Wear for Moms' Night Out

what to wear mom's night out

February is a tough month for personal style. It’s easy to fall into a funk and feel unmotivated to get dressed every day. Want to know my secret to staying motivated? Look ahead to spring! If you’re anxious to try some fresh trends for the new season, I’ve pulled together two hot looks -- one budget friendly and one that’s splurge worthy -- in this week’s style cheat sheet: What to Wear to Moms' Night Out.

Some trends to watch for this spring include: 1) the culotte, 2) off-the-shoulder tops, and 3) the lace-up gladiator sandal. The culotte can seem like a tricky item to wear because it’s a flowy cropped pant. But to make this piece more accessible, think of it as a modern-day mid-length skirt. Approaching it with this mindset will help make it feel easier to wear. Off-the-shoulder pieces in bold prints are big for spring, so start working on sculpting those arms and shoulders now. It can be as simple as doing 20 push-ups each time you’re at the gym! And finally, the lace-up gladiator sandal is a statement shoe that adds flare to every outfit you’ll wear from dresses to jeans and a T-shirt. I’ve created two looks that incorporate all three of these hot trends for a night out with your girlfriends. Which one are you most excited to try?

Moms' Night Out -- Budget Friendly

Nothing says "I’m ready for spring” better than a gorgeous floral print, and this top by Aqua is perfect! The black culottes are a co-branded design by Target and Who What Wear, so you’re getting a trendy design at a great price. What could be better? To toughen up our look a bit, we’ll wear a faux suede biker jacket by H&M in beige, which goes with everything and is the perfect transitional piece to add to your wardrobe. I love the blues in this outfit, and the turquoise Rebecca Minkoff clutch picks up on the blue in the blouse. To finish up, we’ll add these lace-up sandals by Sam Edelman that have a thick, stacked heel to keep you comfortable while looking chic.

Moms' Night Out -- Splurge Worthy

The splurge-worthy version of our outfit uses a different color palette in deep reds and oranges. A sexy off-the-shoulder top by Australian label Keepsake sets the tone. You can just tell that these Alice and Olivia culottes have beautiful construction and will be a staple in your wardrobe this season. To add some edge, wear these Coach high-heeled sandals that are both sexy and badass. Picking up on the warm tones is a sienna-colored clutch by Vince with croc-embossed texture and my favorite piece of this entire outfit -- the faux leather biker jacket in red by Zara. The color is beautiful, and wearing this jacket will elevate whatever you're wearing! You can wear it with a little black dress on date night or with jeans and a T-shirt to run errands.
