What to Wear to a Concert

When was the last time you went to a live concert? Last summer, I took my daughter to her first concert during Taylor Swift’s 1989 tour, and it reminded me how much fun it is to listen to live music in a giant stadium. There's just no experience like it! My tween daughter loved the whole thing -- seeing Taylor Swift live, hearing her music turned all the way up, watching the backup dancers and special effects, and of course seeing her surprise guest that night, Nick Jonas. We had a great time together, and I will admit to enjoying the concert as much as she did!

Dressing for a concert is pretty easy -- it’s a jeans and tee shirt type event -- and it’s the ideal time to bring out your vintage concert tees. I’ve created two looks -- one splurge worthy that’s a little dressier, and one budget-friendly outfit that’s more focused on comfort.

Concert -- Budget Friendly

Our budget-friendly concert outfit has a more relaxed feel, and it’s perfect for an evening where you’ll be up on your feet dancing along. I found this classic Bruce Springsteen tee from his Born in the USA tour. I live in New Jersey now, which makes me an automatic Springsteen fan! To keep with our comfort theme, I’m pairing it with these easy-fit distressed boyfriend jeans from Zara that will keep you looking stylish while feeling comfortable. A faux leather jacket in a neutral color will keep you warm if you need an extra layer. You definitely want to be hands free during a concert, and a crossbody bag does just the trick -- keeping your personal items safe while allowing you to get up and shake your booty. This LeSport Sac in Bandana Lace print is functional and goes with our "All-American Bruce Springsteen" theme. To finish off our budget-friendly look, we’ll wear these suede navy Adidas sneakers that pick up on the blue in the tee shirt as well as the bandana print on the bag.

Concert -- Splurge Worthy

For a dressier, splurge-worthy concert look, I’ve kept the foundation the same with a vintage Rolling Stones tee shirt from the '70s and relaxed-fit distressed boyfriend jeans by 7 For All Mankind. What makes this outfit a little chicer are the fringe ankle boots. If it’s a chilly night, reach for this bomber style jacket from Urban Outfitters that's reversible so it's like having two jackets in one. And to keep you hands free to dance while keeping all your personal items safe, a vegan leather crossbody bag in a gorgeous fig color finishes off our splurge-worthy concert look.
