What to Wear to a Wine Tasting (PHOTOS)

So you're going to a wine tasting ... Are you up on all the proper etiquette? I confess, I need a refresher! What’s the right way to swirl? To smell the wine? Is spitting okay? There are quite a few rules, and I’ll be the first to admit that they all make me feel awkward. But you can be sure that I’m showing up confident in my outfit choice! Let’s cross “What should I wear?” off your to-do list and get to this week’s style cheat sheet -- What to Wear to a Wine Tasting. After all, attending a wine tasting is more about spending time with friends than it is about the wine, right?

Bringing in a little boho inspiration, I’ve created two outfits starting with a delicate lace top -- a splurge-worthy option from Anthropologie and a budget-friendly one from Target! These tops look even better from the back. Wear the lace top with black skinny jeans and printed pumps. I love a pair of simple gold hoops, especially with this outfit because the top and shoes already have so much detail. Add a warm cocoon coat to match and off you go. The core of these outfits is a fancy tee shirt and a pair of jeans so you’ll feel comfortable while enjoying time with friends and tasting all those delicious wines.

Wine Tasting -- Budget Friendly

Our budget-friendly top can be picked up during your next Target run. You’ll get all your family essentials plus a cute top to wear out. The black skinny jeans are less than $20 from H&M, so if don’t have a pair in your closet yet, buy these pronto. The floral pumps by Nine West are so pretty and can be worn with red, but don’t forget that they can also be worn with brown and navy outfits as well. And lastly, how ideal that the Madewell coat comes in a color called Dark Cabernet.

Wine Tasting -- Splurge Worthy

The lace top from Plenty by Tracy Reese is a stunner. You can wear it with jeans, or, in the summer, with white shorts and a pair of wedges. If you’re searching for the perfect and most comfortable jean in the world, let me introduce you to the AG Legging Ankle. It’s my denim of choice, and I’ll confess that I have three pairs! The denim fabric pumps by Jessica Simpson are so fun and come in 11 additional colors. If you already have a pair of gold hoops, take a look at these. The unique shape makes them just different enough to make it worthwhile to have another pair in your jewelry box. We’ll finish off our outfit with a navy J.Crew cocoon coat to keep warm while traveling to and from the wine tasting.
