Hot 'Strobing' Makeup Trend Is Contouring for Dummies (PHOTOS)

beyonceIf you've spent the last several months (years?) perfecting your contouring technique, bad news: There's another cheekbone-enhancing makeup trend in town, and there's no bronzer required -- quite the opposite! It's called strobing, and this highlighter-centric method of creating depth is catching on big-time with celebs!

So how do you do it? Theoretically, it's a super-easy process: Just apply your favorite illuminating product -- Benefit's Watt's Up! Highlighter ($30), and MAC's Strobe Cream ($33) are good options -- to the parts of your face where light would naturally hit: your cheekbones and brow bones, the center of your forehead, down the middle of your nose, and on your chin.

The approach is definitely more foolproof than messing around with darker, potentially difficult-to-blend powders. And it's not just for faces -- apparently full-body strobing was all the rage at NYFW, where the fad was responsible for giving models fantastically dewy limbs (even more dewy than usual, that is).

Naturally, selfie-loving celebrities have been all over this new trend like, well, like highlighter on cheekbones. Here are a few high-profile examples:

Hmm, did Queen Bey do a little cheek AND cleavage strobing in this pic? Think so!

To be fair, Gisele's bone structure doesn't need much strobing to stand out. (Hmm, is her mom playing with strobing too??)

I don't know about you, but I think I've seen the (strobe) light! (At least until the next contouring trend takes over.)
