Barbie Debuts a Zendaya Doll -- Dressed for the Oscars & With Dreadlocks, Too (PHOTO)

When Giuliana Rancic joked that Zendaya Coleman's Oscars-night dreadlocks made her look like she "smelled like patchouli oil ... or maybe weed," the K.C. Undercover star checked her, publicly, on Instagram. Well now Barbie is honoring Zendaya both for "raising her voice" and for her iconic style with a special doll.

That's right, there will be a Zendaya Barbie doll, and it looks like she'll be wearing that stunning white Vivienne Westwood gown with long, dramatic dreadlocks. We can't see the doll yet, but Barbie posted a sketch by designer Carlyle Nuera. It's about as cool as Barbie has ever been in its entire existence -- a doll with locs!

(Okay, fine, 1965 Astronaut Barbie was pretty rad, too.)

More from The Stir: Giuliana Rancic's Racially Insensitive Hair Comment Was Just the Beginning

I think the Zendaya doll will be inspiring to females everywhere. You don't have to have long, straight hair to be glamorous. As Zendaya tells Galore magazine, "My wearing my hair in locks on an Oscar red carpet was to showcase them in a positive light, to remind people of color that our hair is good enough."

Good enough? It's more than good enough -- it's a look that makes her unique. It's a bold move, defining beauty on your own terms.

Think how amazing it would be if Barbie made a Lupita Nyong'o doll -- short hair, don't care. Or a Melissa McCarthy doll. Think of how that might change our ideas of beauty. We outgrow our style preferences when we're adults, but we carry those images of what we think is beautiful with us through our whole lives.
