Lip Liner That Lasts 10 Years Looks Better Than You'd Think (PHOTOS)

Permanent makeup is nothing new, but recently there's been an increase in the number of women requesting tattooed lip liner, and the results aren't at all what you'd expect.

Admittedly the idea of tattooed makeup kind of freaks me out. I'm a bit of a commitment-phobe in my beauty life and can't imagine wanting something permanently etched onto my face. But when I first saw the results of a Cosmopolitan Australia editor's permanent lip liner, I have to say, I was shocked. In a good way.

The result actually looks natural and beautiful. I immediately asked myself, "Could I do this?"

For me, the answer is still no.

Listen, I'll cop to the fact that I wouldn't mind having a Kylie Jenner–like pout but I'm still just too uncomfortable with the idea of making it permanent. The service lasts for eight to 10 years ... that's a long time. What if slightly thin lips like mine finally come into style? I'd feel pretty foolish then, wouldn't I?

Plus, I'm still dealing with the effects of going to college during the heyday of Pam Anderson's pencil-thin brows. Every time I fill those suckers in I'm reminded of beauty choices gone bad, which makes me think twice before trying anything that might have long-lasting power.

And, by the way, tattooed lip liner doesn't come cheap. It costs roughly $1195 and requires touch-up maintenance every three to five years at $350 a pop, according to Marie Claire.

I'll just suck it up and continue applying my lip liner daily, thank you very much.
