Selena Gomez Defends Her Weight Gain In New Swimsuit Photo (PHOTO)

Little girls look up to Selena Gomez. She's talented, gorgeous, and (for better or worse) dated Justin Bieber. For that reason, we should feel encouraged knowing she recently posted a bathing suit photo on Instagram that shows she may have gained a pound or two in recent months. But the caption she included with her photo—which is meant to be inspiring—really just calls to light the sad reality women face in the world today when they aren't a size 2.

Here's Selena, basking in the sun at the beach, looking healthy and beautiful in a one-piece swimsuit:

I love being happy with me yall #theresmoretolove

In a normal world, Selena would have posted this pretty picture and that would have been that. Perhaps a few people would remark about how she looks curvier, but most would comment on her beauty and the fact that she looks relaxed. Few people would look at this photo and think, oh my goodness, what a big girl.

Sadly, the actress and singer felt the need to cut off haters before they spewed their hate by saying she has "more to love," which isn't simply seriously stretching the truth—Selena is still very thin and hasn't exactly gained 100 pounds—but almost comes off as apologetic.

Selena has every right to be proud of her body, but she needn't feel like she has to explain it to strangers. At the same time, who can blame her for being defensive when so many celebs are forced to deal with rude comments about their bodies anytime they gain an ounce?

What do you think about Selena's swimsuit photo and caption?
