Shine On, Hair!

I have a friend named Jill who is the warmest, funniest, most generous friend I have. But she’s also the prettiest. I’m no slouch in the looks department, but after spending a day with Jill, I become much more aware of my shortcomings!

One day, after a game of tennis (she beat me of course), we went out for a quick lunch.

“I was always so jealous of you!” Jill said, as we were reminiscing about our childhood. “You had that beautiful, shiny hair.”

What should have stuck in my mind was that Jill, the beautiful Jill, had been jealous of plain old ME. But instead, what I kept hearing was “your hair USED TO BE so shiny.”

Jill was right; my once silky, flowing hair had become dull and lifeless and I hadn’t even noticed.

Totally by accident I came across this video on CafeMom’s Mad Life’s Beauty Breaks. They were talking about my Modern Family fave, Sofia Vergara, and her BEAUTIFUL hair. I couldn’t believe the simple steps she took to look so good. This video featured a real-life mom (like me!), so I figured, what the hey, and headed out to Target.

And there they were, the Suave Professionals Moroccan Infusion Shine Shampoo and Conditioner. Though it certainly didn’t look like the Suave from my day, the price tag was still just as reasonable. I tossed a bottle of each into my basket.

Then I picked up the TRESemme Keratin Smooth Heat Activated Treatment, something I would never have purchased before, feeling sure it would be way too difficult for me. But after seeing the video, I knew I could do it!

I found the Nexxus Maxximum Finishing Mist, and when I checked out, I realized my entire basket of hair care products was about a fifth of what a trip to the hairdresser would have cost me.

And after a couple weeks of using them, I can’t believe any hairdresser anywhere could have revived my silky, shiny hair like this regime did.

Now, whenever I’m with Jill, I wear my hair long and proud, knowing it looks like it did when we were teenagers. But if I could only do something about those crows' feet in the corners of my eyes ...

What do you use to keep your hair looking like it did when you were a kid?
