Jessica Alba's Oddly Colored Dress Is an Absolute Fashion 'Do' (PHOTO)

Jessica Alba doesn't make fashion mistakes. Like, ever. So when we heard that lots of people were talking about an unusual dress she chose to wear to the New York Women in Film and Television 'Designing Women' Awards, we thought: Well, how bad can it be?

And the answer is: not bad at all -- in fact, her look is pretty great. Alba took a fashion risk by opting for a color we don't often see on the red carpet -- outstanding orange -- and the 33-year-old actress proved she can pull off anything.

Alba went with this super-glam Vivienne Westwood strapless satin dress, which fit her like a gorgeous orange glove:

I am mad about this look, mainly because Alba accessorized like a pro. Her gold pumps and minimal gold accoutrements -- which include a gold clutch, rings, and earrings -- don't compete at all with the bold hue she chose. LOVE that she isn't wearing a necklace and realized her bronze skin is the perfect complement to the dress, and her makeup and hair work incredibly well with this shade, as well.

It can't be stated enough that this dress really works because its pencil shape is simple and its lack of frou-frou details let the burnt orange hue play a starring role -- one it definitely deserves.

This particular shade of bronze-orange certainly wouldn't work on everyone. With her ivory skin, someone like Gwyneth Paltrow would look ghastly in it and would benefit more from a lighter, brighter shade of O. But Alba shows us that orange is a HOT, HOT color and one more stars should consider.

Do you like Jessica Alba's dress? Would you wear an orange dress to an event?
