Sharon Stone 'Naked' Face Shows Us the Right Way to Age (PHOTOS)

sharon stone If I were to write a letter to Sharon Stone, it would start something like this: Dear Sharon Stone, You make this whole scary aging thing look quite appealing ....

We all know that with age, what we hope to gain is confidence. But how the heck do we do that when wrinkles are here, some sagging is there, and your hair isn't quite as amazing as it was when you were 20. Sharon knows. Now while she's only 56 (50 is the new 40, of course) and she is often all done up in fancy dresses and makeup, she also has this beauty that radiates from within even when she isn't wearing a hint of makeup. Don't believe me? Here's proof.

Here is Sharon shopping on Abbot Kinney Boulevard in Venice, California, with a friend. Take a look at her pin-up girl T-shirt. Playful and fun, and quite bold. She looks amazing in it.

Take a look at her perfect length shorts. Perfect. Yes.

Take a look at her face. No makeup! Out and about without makeup! Thank you, Sharon. We don't need makeup to be beautiful, to feel put together. It's all about the attitude, the mind set, the confidence. It doesn't matter if you are 22 or 56 or 75 -- you don't need a ton of makeup to be beautiful. Recently Sharon said:

There was a point in my 40s where I went into the bathroom with a bottle of wine, looked the door and said, 'I'm not coming out until I can totally accept the way I look right now.' We have to have internal health and internal wellness .... And I think that's physical health, mental health, spiritual health. You know, I think it's a sense of ethics. It's everything.

This is the right way to age. The right attitude to have about life and getting older. It isn't about if we have the perfect shade of lipstick or if there is a blemish on our cheek and some gray hairs, it's about loving ourselves for ourselves. Let the makeup-free photos continue to inspire us. Dear Sharon ... thank you.

Do you ever go makeup-free?
