Kate Middleton's style is impressive for many reasons, but one of the coolest facts by far has to be how she's been able to recycle certain pieces over the years and dress them way up or way down. For instance, can you believe that she was able to wear one of her favorite staples to both the formal Christmas celebration at the Queen's Sandringham estate last month and when playing field hockey?! True story! The versatile go-to: Her black Aquatalia Rhumba boots.
The knee-high boots don't come cheap, retailing for $698 at high-end department stores like Bergdorf Goodman, Saks Fifth Avenue, or Nordstrom. Ouch. But considering how the Duchess has been wearing the heck out of them since the first time she was spied in them in December 2011 (when she was visiting the homeless shelter Centrepoint's Camberwell Foyer), it's possible they are well worth the shocking price tag.
The Duchess runs in her Rhumbas while playing field hockey at her former prep school.
Believe me, I know it's crazy to even begin to wrap your head around spending the same as a rent payment or two roundtrip airfares on a pair of boots. But how many times do we buy cheapo shoes that end up falling apart? I've actually been attempting to cut back on seemingly more budget-friendly, lower-quality items in lieu of spending more on fewer, higher-quality pieces of apparel. This seems especially wise when it comes to something like boots, which you can basically live in and, if they aren't well-made, can end up falling apart rather quickly.
That said, maybe Kate Middleton's Aquatalias are a wise investment. Not to mention super-cute, clearly comfortable, and capable of being worn with just about any outfit!
What's a style "investment" you've made lately? Would you ever try a pair of Kate's boots?
