Adele has received accolades for everything from her incredible musical prowess to her chic fashion sense, but today, she was lauded in a completely new way. She was given an MBE (Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire) medal -- an honor reserved for exemplary British subjects who've made "significant achievement or outstanding service to the community"-- from Prince Charles at Buckingham Palace!
Introduced in the palace ballroom as Miss Adele Adkins, she was reportedly quite cheerful and sociable with the heir to the throne. After a quick chat, he awarded her with the "services to music" medal and shook her hand. Making the moment even more lovely: Adele made a smart style move something the Duchess of Cambridge herself is known for ...
Paying tribute to the U.K. by wearing couture by a notable English designer! For the special occasion, she wore a wool-blend, navy tea-length dress embroidered with a blue and green flower and leaf motif by Stella McCartney. The Duchess has also worn Stella the past, as well (most notably, her electric blue dress to the Olympics in summer 2012), and the Beatle's daughter also has celeb fans all over Hollywood, from Liv Tyler to Reese Witherspoon, Gwyneth Paltrow and Rachel McAdams.
Aside from Adele's designer choice being so patrotic, the dress itself was absolutely, positively perfect in every way: tailored, that pretty A-line cut Adele is such a fan of, long sleeves that are clearly most appropriate for December, etc.
Then, to top things off, she went and got a royal blue manicure ... and her accent nails sported blingy little crowns! Ahh, how rock-meets-royal! Too perfect.
After the ceremony, Adele released a statement about the experience:
It was an honour to be recognised and a very proud moment to be awarded alongside such wonderful and inspirational people. Very posh indeed.
"Posh" is right! We couldn't agree more!
What do you think about Adele's royal look?
