Kelly Ripa's Striking New Haircut Isn't Easy to Pull Off (PHOTO)

Love It! 13

Kelly Ripa Demi LovatoOMG. Have you seen Kelly Ripa's chic bob hairdo? She debuted the brand new style on LIVE With Kelly & Michael this morning, and I have to say -- this is probably the best her hair has ever looked.

It's so cute and sleek. And it frames her face perfectly. And even though Kelly is 42 years old, she could easily pass for a 30-something thanks to this bob -- though I've always thought this particular cut has the reverse effect on most women.

For as long as I can remember, I've wanted this exact hairstyle. I've almost taken the plunge and told my hairdresser to go for it a time or two -- but I always chicken out at the last minute for two very good reasons.

First of all, I'm afraid that hair this short will make me look heavier, since I have a round face. And second, I'm afraid it will make me look 10 years older than I actually am (which would really suck since I just turned 36).

You know, I'm worried about it making me look like a mom. (The age part, not the weight part.)

Oh come on -- the chin-length bob is the mom haircut, isn't it? I feel like it's the cut you get because you just don't have the time or the patience it takes to maintain long hair because you're too busy with the kiddos. You're also after a more mature look, well -- because you're a mom.

Kelly may have managed to pull it off perfectly while erasing a few years and making herself appear even more petite -- but somehow I'm still not convinced that this style has the same effect on everyone.

Damn. I don't even want to think about how much time she probably saves every morning since she doesn't have all that hair to blow dry anymore.

Oh wait -- I forgot. She's a talk show host, so she has people to do that for her and it doesn't matter what length her hair is.

But I'm still digging her new do even though it makes me more than a little bit envious of her.

What do you think of Kelly's new hair?

I love it, it's almost identical to mine. My husband begged me to go back to this, since with longer hair I "put it in a ponytail and give up" as he puts it. They chopped it off last week because since my car accident I couldn't take care of my long hair (can still barely brush it) and the first words out of my mouth were "He's right, it looks better short".

I think it's cute. Mary, from the your pictures, you have nothing to worry about as far as looking heavy goes. You are tiny. Also, I think this cut looks good on just about everyone, provided you have a stylist that knows what they're doing!

I've donated my hair a few times and had it styled similarly to this - I actually find it MORE work than my long hair! Long hair you can just throw up into a ponytail or bun, but with short hair like that, you'd better have a straightener and/or time to blow dry and round-brush! Makes me want to chop off my locks again, but the thought of doing the styling myself is scary!

I have a couple of spots where the hair never came back after chemo, and this hairdo hides them beautifully. It's a very classic style too, which is good, since I'm going to have to wear it for the rest of my life. (Bummer!)

I love it on her!

If only stars would stop playing with their hair - she constantly pushed it off her face today. If it's in the way, wear it differently, but stop playing with it.

Hate it. Liked her longer hair MUCH better.

It's about time...I was getting tired of all the extensions. Everyone was looking the same.

you should take the pic of Kelly to your stylist and say, "do me" - are you not a mom who desires to be desired and in the mean time wants the ease of care the shorter style will bring. as ye have been inspired, go forth and inspire others - mary 1:1
