The recently-betrothed Kelly Osbourne showed off her engagement ring finally (under the guise of showing off her manicure), and in my humble opinion, it's one of the most gorgeous celeb rings out there -- and the story behind it couldn't be sweeter. The ring, which has a (giant) round solitaire diamond, was created to replicate an earring her father, Ozzy Osbourne, used to wear when she was young. Kelly said: "I designed it to look like an earring that my father wore when I was little. I used to hold my finger up to his ear when I was little and say, 'I want a ring like that.' Now I have one!"
Cute! And if you think designing your own ring is tacky, you need to hear Kelly's story.
Matthew Mosshart, Kelly's fiance, proposed to the Fashion Police host while the couple was away on vacation in Aguilla ("on a balcony overlooking the ocean," if you must know). I'm guessing it was more of an impromptu decision on Mosshart's part, because, at the time of the proposal, there was no ring -- so they designed one together. Kelly and Mosshart have been engaged for six months now, but she wanted to wait to tell the world until her bling was ready.
So, yeah. If you get engaged without a ring initially, why not design, or at least help design, your own ring? You're going to get exactly what you love in that case, and there's something kind of romantic about designing a ring -- or, for most of us, deciding upon a ring -- as a couple.
Congrats, Kelly. Your fiance seems like a real gem (heh), and your ring is gorg. And the story behind it? Super sweet. It's part you, part Matthew, and part your dad all rolled into one massive, really expensive diamond.
Did you help pick out your engagement ring?
