Despite rumors of a definite split, Miranda Kerr and Victoria's Secret's relationship status can only be described as "it's complicated." First, we heard the supermodel was being fired from the lingerie brand, because she was "difficult" to work with, she was "not a big seller for VS," and her three-year contract was not renewed. Then, VS's president and chief marketing officer Ed Razek stepped in to clarify to Vogue UK that "while her international commitments have kept her away from us more than we'd like over the past few years ... we have no plans to stop working with her."
The latest: Sources tell Page Six exclusively that they know the real deal, which actually seems to add up.
Apparently, Miranda "could not devote enough time to the demanding brand." These insiders claim that talks between the lingerie line and the supermodel fell apart last week, because, as the source notes:
The problem was the time commitment. Victoria’s Secret usually asks the girls who are Angels to commit three months in a particular year to the brand.
But that was allegedly too much for Miranda, who "has become a big star -- she recently signed a deal with airline Qantas and has just replaced Kate Moss as the face of Spanish fashion line Mango,” the Page Six source continued. So, long story short, Miranda is still walking in the Angels' fashion show this year, but her relationship with the brand is "evolving."
Fair enough! Sounds like Miranda's just experiencing some of the career growing pains that come along with being a breakout star. Take Kate Moss, Gisele Bundchen, Heidi Klum, or in the entertainment biz, someone like Beyonce! They all had an awkward, transitional phase in which they had to bridge the gap between their past/the outlet that got their career going and their future as a solo star.
Miranda has always seemed primed to be a star, so her relationship with the brand was bound to "evolve" at some point. No time like the present!
What do you think is really going on between Miranda and VS?
