Sadly, Gwyneth Paltrow can be pretty annoying at times. I am sure working mothers really appreciate it when she tries to relate her struggles as a Hollywood mom to their own. But her past condescending quips aside, GP's latest interview reveals something we have long suspected but never quite had confirmed -- she's had work done. That's right, perfect Gwyneth admits that she is just as desperate to fight age as the rest of us. You gotta love her for that. Though, she may have earned one new enemy with this recent admission. While helping the rest of us relate to her more, she totally -- and hilariously -- disses Joan Rivers!
She's all for trying just about anything she can to fight the signs of time on her face -- dabbling in everything from creams to laser treatments. And though the thought of a face-lift freaks her out, she never says never. "I would be scared to go under the knife, but you know, talk to me when I’m 50," she said. "I’ll try anything." Well, almost. She adds, "Except I won’t do Botox again, because I looked crazy. I looked like Joan Rivers!” Slam!
Was her Joan Rivers reference rude? Yes. Was it true? I wouldn't doubt it. She has become synonymous with that waxen, stretched so far you can't make a facial expression look. None of us wants to walk out of the plastic surgeon's office looking like the comedienne, so I can't blame Gwyneth AT ALL. I also love the fact that she is keeping an open mind about cosmetic surgery in general. I have never been a big proponent myself. I get queasy at the thought of someone slicing into my body to lift, tuck, or suck anything out. But that is starting to change as I grow older.
It’s easy to poo-poo cosmetic enhancements when we are in our 20s. We just can’t envision a day when we would be wrinkled and haggard-looking. But time changes more than one’s skin elasticity. Our attitudes about anti-aging techniques soften too. Once I hit 50, I will be willing to try just about anything too. (As long as I don’t look like Joan Rivers. I’m with ya Gwyneth.) Though, she may want to watch her back -- Joan isn’t exactly the forgiving type.
Do you think Gwyneth's Joan Rivers diss was too harsh?
