Just when I thought I couldn't possibly feel any frumpier today, I came across this photo of Bachelorette Emily Maynard in leather pants -- and now I want to go hide from the world and wallow in the misery that is my style for a bit. She was spotted in the outfit while exiting Starbucks, and if I didn't know any better, I'd assume she was a reality TV star. (Wait, what?)
OMG. Is there anything she can't pull off wearing? From short dresses to skinny jeans to skin-tight leather pants -- Emily looks great in everything. (And I'd probably hate her for it if she wasn't so darn sweet.)
How many other moms do you know who can get away with wearing leather and still come out looking polished, put together, and sophisticated?
I'm racking my brain right now and can't come up with one single name. Although, I do live in the boonies of northeast Connecticut, so it's not like there are a ton of women up here running around the cow pastures in leather pants and stilettos.
For as long as I can remember, I've dreamed of owning and looking halfway decent in a pair of leather pants. And I honestly want to go back and kick my 25-year-old self in the head for not investing in a pair then, when I was barely a size two. (And I didn't even appreciate it, which really stinks.)
Now, 10 years later, between my body not being the same shape after having a baby and the extra cellulite I've picked up along the way -- there's no way I'm letting one stitch of leather go anywhere near my not-so-buff physique. The mere thought of catching a glimpse of myself in the mirror in pants like Emily's makes me cringe -- to the point where I should probably go ahead and ditch the jeans I'm wearing at the present moment in favor of loose-fitting lounge wear and call it a day.
Do you have leather pants? Do you actually wear them?
