See what CafeMoms are saying about saving time this holiday season..
Dang that girl looked HOT last night. Leaving aside all references to her dubious choice of a date (sigh), let us simply pay homage to the gloriousness that was Rihanna at the Grammys. Her custom Azzedine Alaia gown was a true show-stopping stunner. Nice work if you can get it, but most of us don’t have the kind of money it takes to wear a custom couture dress ... nor a red carpet event to wear it to. The good news: We can all rock Rihanna’s gorgeous, vibrant orange-red lipstick and nail polish -- and we should!
Last night, Rihanna’s manicurist Kimmie Kyees mixed two Red Carpet Manicure LED gel polishes, "Ooo La Liscious" and "Red Carpet Reddy," to match the vivid color of Rihanna’s dress ($9.99 each at Ulta.com). Were those shade names made for Rihanna or what?
Beyonce wore a similar red on her nails at the inauguration last month, and I spotted at least two celebs last night with a similar look: Alexa Chung rocked va-va-voom lipstick and Alicia Keys went for the luscious look on both her lips and nails.
A more adventurous take on the coral and tangerine lust of last year, this is such a fun, wearable trend. The PERFECT way to kick-start spring and inject some vivid brightness into these last dregs of winter, a bright, orangey red will look great on most complexions -- you just have to find the right balance of red vs. orange for you, especially when it comes to lipstick. If an uber-bright lip seems too adventurous for you, start with a fresh, orange-red manicure. Baby steps! Here are a few pretty picks:
From left to right: OPI’s 'Tasmanian Devil Made Me Do It' ($6.50) at salons and beautylounge.com; Essie’s 'Clambake' ($8) at Target; Illumasqua 'Alarm' at Sephora ($14)
Then, when you have some time, get thee to a Sephora or your favorite makeup counter at the mall and ask to try some orange-red lipsticks that will flatter your skin tone! I also recently discovered the lipsticks at The Body Shop -- they have really nice, bold colors and plenty of mirrors and wipes for testing out new shades. Trust me, this is one red carpet trend you can totally work.
Do you love Rihanna’s red lips and nails? Would you try the look yourself?
