Finally! Demi Moore's anti-aging secret has been revealed. Well ... maybe. At least that's why we think she slathered her entire body with mud from head to toe.
The star recently vacationed in Tulum, Mexico where she lounged in a teeny weeny bikini after getting a mud spa treatment. At 50, everyone has long wondered how she stays so youthful looking, and this could be one reason why. Check out all the surprising benefits of mud and clay!
- Gives you glowing skin. Among the minerals in mud: sodium, magnesium, and potassium, which can soothe conditions like psoriasis and rosacea.
- A great way to detox. Clay can actually draw out toxins in your skin. Apparently negatively charged particles in it can pull them out.
- Wonderful pain reliever. Mud is an amazing anti-inflammatory, so all those minerals packed inside can actually help relieve muscle aches and pains. There have even been studies that show mud baths can improve symptoms of spondylitis, a painful disease caused by an inflamed vertebrae.
- Can help you lose inches. That's right -- inches. Clay has the ability to absorb excess water. It works best when heavily coated on your problem areas, then covered with plastic wrap.
If you don't want to go to a pricey spa, you can get the benefits of a mud bath at home. Here's how. Hopefully you have mineral-rich mud in your backyard. Start by shoveling the dirt into a bucket or large bowl, then combine with warm water. You can also use potting soil with warm water and powdered milk. Just one warning -- it's incredibly messy and it can clog your drain, but the beauty and health benefits could be worth it.
Have you ever tried a mud bath? If so, what did you think?
