New Girl actress Zooey Deschanel seems like a really cool person. She's quirky (I'm sure she's never heard that before), she's got a pleasant singing voice, and she's got a funny blog. But when it comes to red carpet style, Zooey inevitably leaves that fun-loving, interesting side of her at home and consistently wears boring empire-waist strapless gowns that you tried on at Jessica McClintock for your junior prom. At the Golden Globes last night, Zooey didn't deviate from her trend and wore, of course, a red, strapless, empire-waist gown by Oscar de la Renta and paired the look with an oversized pearl necklace and matching bracelet.
Not necessarily the best look for someone of her age and originality.
And don't get me started on her nail art. She tried to fun-up the outfit with a whimsical, film-themed manicure. Look! And this one's a film reel and this one's a camera and it's all gold and sparkly ... Usually I'm a fan of Zooey's cute nail art, but this seemed a little too literal and therefore a little too young for the rest of her outfit.
If the competition hadn't been so tough, Zooey probably wouldn't have the dishonor of being named worst dressed. Everyone else just looked so good! Well, Halle Berry sort of blew it, but hey, at least she tried.
We all saw Zooey's dress coming from a mile away and not because it was fire engine red, but because she's worn that same cut and style over and over and over again. This time, though, with the dowdy pearls and the matchy-matchy shoes, it just didn't work.
Did you like Zooey's look?
