Pippa Middleton Isn't Kate Middleton, So She Should Stop Dressing Like Her (PHOTO)

Pippa Middleton Pippa Middleton was at an event recently, promoting her new book Celebrate: A Year of Festivities for Family and Friends, and, well, I'm just gonna say it: She looked a lot like her sister, the Duchess of Cambridge. Like, a lot. Dressed in an above-the-knee, long-sleeved purple peplum dress, Pippa looked more ready for a royal engagement than a publicity event. Huffington Post had some harsh commentary on Pips' outfit, saying: "This looks like Pippa's misguided attempt to channel her sister Kate. Or a bridesmaid's dress gone wrong. Your choice." Ouch. But thoughts on the dress style aside, Pippa does look like she's attempting to channel Kate. And that's just not a good idea.

Fact is, the reason anybody knows who Pippa Middleton is is because of her sister. She's famous by way of someone famous. And that's fine. Lots of people are famous because of their parents or siblings or kids. But because of this, and because she's clearly trying to make a name for herself, Pippa should try to differentiate herself from Kate in as many ways as possible. And the easiest way to do that is to dress differently.

I'm not saying Pippa should totally change her style just so she doesn't look like Kate. But I am saying she could have skipped the peplum dress, which is so Kate (although, no, Kate wouldn't have worn it in satin).

Having a sister is one of the best things in the world. It's like having a built-in best friend. But I love when I see sisters with totally different style. (Perhaps because my sister and I have totally different style.) It shows their individuality, despite being cut from the same cloth. And it makes borrowing clothes so much more fun, because, odds are, it's something you won't have in your own closet.

Do you and your sister dress alike?

She and her sister have had very similar styles since long before Kate became a duchess. Kate has stuck to her own personal style- why should pippa have to dress any differently because she appears to be imitating her sister?

It sounds like you are arguing that Kate has "claimed" an entire style for herself that is now off-limits to her sister. That seems unfair and absurd - they have similar body styles and what looks good on one will probably look good on the other. Kate's style could be described as classic, timeless and chic- all of which are ultimate compliments in the world of fashion. It seems like you are saying her sister can't be any of those things or else she is copying, and according to you, copying poorly. Totally unfair.

Here's an idea: if you have a sister, go to your closet and throw out anything she might wear. Exactly what would you have left? I know I wouldn't have much. Expecting Pippa to never wear anything Kate might wear is insane and childish.

I hate that dress. It's not flattering at all. However, I agree with the other posters that Kate and Pippa have always had similar styles. And perhaps Pippa was under instruction from the palace to start dressing more conservatively because every time she wears something that's too revealing, she gets a talking to from the palace!

Guess we should all stop shopping at Next, Top Shop, Zara, and even Marks & Spencer (where their Kate Middleton pumps have been selling out). Those are Kate-like stores and, goddammit, no one -- especially her famous not famous sister and that unfair bum -- can emulate her!

How about you stop criticizing her, she's still royalty, and Kate and her sister, are sisters they may like the same things, she doesn't need to change anything

I think she looks nice!

As other commenters have said, Kate and Pippa have been dressing in virtually the same style since forever. Google some older pics of Kate and Pippa from, say, 2005 and 2006, you'll find they have even worn the exact same dress in different colours, just not at the exact same time. There is one pic taken of them in 2007 wearing the exact same style dress in different colours and pattens. Dressing similarly isn't new for the Middleton sisters, and it isn't right to say they should stop just because Kate married Prince William. Kate doesn't own an entire style of dress.

I agree with the others on here. Kate doesn't own all that is demure, stylish, and classic. The Pipster looks great in that dress. I certainly didn't think that she was trying to channel Kate.

Screw YOU! They're sisters. You can't mess with that!
