The people have spoken -- or more specifically, the men have spoken -- and we officially have a winner for the fierce competition that was apparently underway to name the world's most desirable woman. According to 2.4 million readers of the website AskMen, the number one celebrity men would most like to date is … *drumroll* Jennifer Lawrence.
Jennifer Lawrence, you guys. A classy, intelligent, all-natural beauty who actually has some acting talent! And out of the 100 women on the list, Kim Kardashian barely squeaked in at number 98! Men of AskMen, you surprise me -- in a good way.
Although I have to say, I'm a little surprised Kristen Stewart is one of your top choices.
AskMen's editor-in-chief theorizes that the reason Jennifer Lawrence made the top spot this year has to do with the fact that she's not overexposed:
Overall, there's a sense that she's a little more authentic than other actors. She's fresh because we haven't seen her all over the gossip pages for the past three or four years.
I'm thinking it also has something to do with her being a red-hot Hollywood commodity at the moment. Much like the "Sexiest Man Alive" honor, I'm sure the Most Desirable Woman wouldn't be quite so desirable if her last five movies had tanked.
Lawrence may be the celebrity most men would like to partner up with, but they'd likely settle for Mila Kunis, Kate Upton, Rihanna, and Emma Stone, who round out the top five. Now Mila Kunis, Kate Upton, and Rihanna have always been considered major hotties, but I'm a little surprised that Emma Stone took fifth place. I mean, I love Emma Stone (not just because she's so appealing onscreen, but also because I imagine that every time Lindsay Lohan watches her, she throws a vodka bottle at the wall and screams "THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN ME!!!"), but I wouldn't have guessed she'd be on a men's list for most desirable.
In fact, there are a lot of names on the list that are pleasant surprises: Claire Danes at number 20, Michelle Obama at 33, Sarah Silverman at 44, and even Yahoo! President and Chief Executive Marissa Mayer at number 59. Kim Kardashian, whose entire brand revolves around being desirable to both men and women, dropped way, WAY down the list this year to number 98.
Oddly enough, Kristen Stewart is in the number 7 spot. I find this interesting, because she actually jumped 20 spots from last year. So what is it, men? Did you just really like Breaking Dawn 1 and 2? Did the whole cheating thing make her more attractive in some way? Did her renewed relationship with Robert Pattinson present a delicious challenge?
Who knows, but I'm glad for Jennifer Lawrence. She's gorgeous, smart, and has yet to engineer her own nude photo scandal -- all very desirable qualities, wouldn't you say?
Are you surprised that Jennifer Lawrence is at the top of the list for 'most desirable woman'?
