Here's a picture of Kourtney Kardashian. She's a beautiful woman, but here? Here she looks just all right. No offense. Her hair's pulled into a bun; she's not wearing much makeup; and despite her being a Kardashian, her outfit is super casual. She basically looks like a normal mom at the park with her kid. But if you look a little bit closer, you'll notice that Kourtney knows a style secret you may not. A style secret that's every mom's best friend. Forever.
Kourtney's wearing a "high-low" t-shirt. A tee that's short in the front, long in the back (AKA a mullet shirt, AKA an asymmetrical shirt). And the reason the shirts -- which give you a rock-chic/boho-chic look, depending on how you wear it -- are your best friend is because, to put it bluntly, they hide your ass.
I wasn't aware of this gem of knowledge when I first bought a high-low shirt. I saw a tee that was cute and sort of different, so I purchased. But when I paired it with a pair of leggings and wedge booties, I realized: Sweet baby Jesus, this hides my arse!
Like most moms, after I had my kid, I wasn't in peak physical condition. With no time or desire to work out, lots of my body parts took on a less attractive state than usual -- and I basically lived in high-low shirts and leggings. (Still do, actually.) Unlike a plain old long t-shirt and leggings, a high-low top adds a little bit of -- I hate this word, but I'm going to use it: Pizazz. Basically, you look like you've made some effort even when you haven't.
So, if you don't have a high-low top, ladies, go out and treat yourself to one. I guarantee you, you'll get your money's worth within the first month.
What clothes did you live in after giving birth?
