Pippa Middleton's High-Waisted Skirt Isn't THAT Bad, Dahlings

Style Savvy 8

pippa middletonPippa Middleton likes her skirts like she likes her society: high. The sister to the Duchess was spotted toasting British jewelry company W&W Monday night wearing a very high-waisted shimmery bronze skirt, a satin beige top, black pantyhose, and tan pumps. It may or may not look as bad as it sounds, but poor party-planning Pippa is getting pooh-poohed for this peculiar panoply.

But I say, pshaw! The Pipster looks awesome.

OK, the tights and the shoes, not so much, but everything else! Love.

Let's start with the skirt. My love for extremely high-waisted clothing started in the '70s, predating my birth, which just serves to highlight my otherwordly affection for a high-waist.

It's effortlessly chic; both modern and vintage. It's a Renaissance Lady, Katharine Hepburn, and business casual all rolled into one. And for someone like me who has next to zero hips or ass, it's a flattering cut.

But! Lest you think a boyish figure is what makes the high-waisted look work, may I remind you that Marilyn Monroe and Kim Kardashian both rocked the look, curves and all.

You know what they (don't, but should) say: the higher the waist, the closer to god.

Unfortunately for Pippa, I'm one of the few who approve of her outfit. Yahoo said her ensemble made them feel sad, The Huffington Post was confused by the whole thing, and The Hollywood Gossip called into question Pippa's state of mind when she chose the look.

Don't listen to them, Pips! I think you're looking great. But about those shoes ...

Do you like Pippa's high-waisted skirt?
