Kate Middleton, arguably more well-known for her hair than her marriage to Prince William, has gone and done something drastic: She cut bangs. It also looks like she may have dyed her locks half a shade darker, but seriously, who can concentrate on that when there are bangs to be discussed?
Now, despite the fact that I am a vehement fan of all things Duchess of Cambridge, I can't lie here: I prefer Kate Middleton bangless. But. I think her decision to get a new hairdo was 100 percent the right one. Even if she is "not sure about it."
We all have the hairstyles we know and love -- and we probably have had them, and will have them, the majority of our lives. And there's a reason for that -- we look good with them; we feel confident; and moreover, we feel comfortable. (For me, it's long hair, side swept "bangs", and a dirty blond hue.) But I think, like with most things in life, sometimes you have to lose something to know how much you appreciate it. Sometimes -- you have to cut bangs.
Much like taking a break in a relationship, it satisfies your curiosity. You get to satiate that little voice inside of you that's constantly asking, "What if?" (Even though, ultimately, you know what the answer is.) You can get back to your old style -- and rock it for the rest of your life if you want to -- full-well knowing that the two of you are meant to be. And that kind of peace of mind trumps a crappy haircut any day.
Have you had the same hairstyle for a long time?
