How to Get Long, Sexy Side Bangs Like Keira Knightley and Emma Stone

keira knightleyKeira Knightley's been giving a lot of interviews recently to promote her upcoming movie Anna Karenina, and there have been a lot of juicy tidbits to come out of them. She revealed that the anorexia rumors got to her, she seems to have a love/hate relationship with her small breasts, and she considers herself a contradictory feminist. But! The real story, folks, is her bangs. Long, sexy, and parted to the side, Keira looks great. And so does Emma Stone, who's also been rocking a similar look. And so do I, since I got this exact haircut on Friday.

Here's how you, too, can get these great bangs like Keira and Emma.

Communicate with your hairdresser. A picture is worth a thousand words, people, so come with one handy. Talk to your stylist about your needs (you want to be able to fit the bangs in a ponytail, etc.) and explain what you like, and don't like, about the photo you brought in. The more info you give them, the more likely you are to walk away happy.

Get the right products. Hi, my name is Lindsay, and I'm a hair product aholic. My favorite, so far, for this long bang look is L'Oreal's volumizing, texture-expert, serum-gel thing. A flat bang is a bad bang -- use this product before blow drying and after, as well. I know they say only to use on damp hair, but that is a fallacy. You can totally use it on dry hair to give it a little umph.

Not to beat a dead horse or anything, but don't wash your hair but once or twice a week. Listen. To. Me. And Barbara Palvin. We're on to something. With this shorter look, not-washing is easier than it ever was.

A Carol Brady-esque look is not cute. My hair flips out when it's short, and it's horrendous. To make sure yours doesn't, as well, use a flat iron to straighten it, or a big, round, curling iron to counter its natural flow.

Short hair is an opportunity to shine. Literally. Shine products sort of get lost on lots of long hair, but with these face-framing bangs and shoulder-length locks, you can really have fun with some shine sprays and serums. Oh, what do I recommend, you ask? Funny you should mention it! I happen to love these: Aveda Brilliant Spray On Shine, and Got2b shine serum.

Happy banging! Wait, that doesn't sound right. But you know what I mean.

Would you consider Keira's look for yourself?
