Justin Bieber's ‘Friend’ Barbara Palvin Has Weird Hair-Washing Trick That Actually Works

We Tried It 10

barbara palvinEver think you'd read as much as you have about Justin Bieber's breakup with Selena Gomez? Me neither, but folks, the unavoidable news just keeps rolling in. Last week Justin and Victoria's Secret model Barbara Palvin got cozy on Twitter ... and at The Lion King. Reportedly, the 18-year-old pop star was flirting with the 19-year-old model and everyone was like, OMG, who is this girl.

Well, for one, she's Hungarian, and for two, and perhaps most importantly, she subscribes to my tried and true method of not washing your hair all the time because that ish is bad for your locks, bitches! I've only screamed that from the rooftops, oh, I don't know, a thousand times, but if you're not going to listen to me, maybe you'll listen to Bieber's Barbara.

In fact, I went ahead and tested her unique half-wash-your-hair method and I'm here to report back.

The Gloss says Barbara describes her showering process as such:

She only washes "the top of my hair, near to the skin, and I just rinse the rest, so that shampoo doesn’t make it dry. I use conditioners as well, and I let my hair air dry."

I took Barbara's challenge last night and you know what? It's a nice way to freshen up your scalp between real, full-head washes. I'm usually a fan of dry shampoo and conditioning freshening sprays because, let's be real, most of the benefit of not washing one's hair is not having to get one's hair wet.

That said, this method wasn't all bad. I might have felt differently if I took this experiment last week, when my hair was 13 inches longer (just had m'annual haircut on Friday -- hold your round of applause) because, man, it would've been a bitch to have gotten all wet just to wash the tops.

But now, with shoulder-length locks, I gotta say I'm on board with Barbara's teachings. Even if you blow dry your hair afterwards, you're still limiting your hair's contact with shampoo, which, to me, is a good thing. That stuff be so drying, y'all.

In conclusion! It works. I cheated and blew dry my hair afterwards (it was cold in my apartment!), but I liked that I used minimal shampoo and that my hair had that ideal, non-washed texture, yet smelled like Pantene. Love that smell.

I think I'm gonna keep this up.

Would you give her technique a try?

I wash my hair once a week and I get compliments on it all the time. Of course, its on the dry side and I probably couldn't get away with it if it was oily, but I agree that less is more when it comes to washing your hair.  I use conditioning sprays daily when I style my hair and I only dry my bangs.

i've done a variation of this for years and just never knew it. i wash my hair every 3 - 4 days (full wash) with one of these "half washes" in between. my hair gets oily, and even more so if i overwash it. i don't use blow dryers (i haven't owned one in over a decade) and the only time product is in my hair is if a friend does it for a fancy occasion. i'm very, very low key and low maintenance with my hair. and yet, at its current length (to my butt) it gets more compliments than ever when i wear it down. go figure. lol

I've been doing this for ages and my curly hair has thrived.

My fine hair is super oily and I have to wash it everyday. I've tried tons of other ways to deal with it, but vinegar rinses, trying to train my hair to dealing with fewer shampoos, dry shampoo, etc just don't cut it. Since my hair is long I can put conditioner on the ends while shampooing to prevent over drying the ends. Since going auburn I've only been washing every other day and using dry shampoo on the off days, but my scalp is getting gross, almost like cradle's cap in areas. I'm jealous of those who don't need to shampoo every day.

I thought the general rule was shampoo the top only and condition the ends. My sister won't even let her kids put shampoo near the ends of their hair- they remind me when they get a bath at my house!

i wash my hair every 3 or 4 days only the roots.it is halfway down my back. I started this a few months back as the ends kept getting way too dried out. made a huge difference. as u rinse out the shampoo it gives a mild clean to the ends. not harsh. i have now switched to organic products and waiting for my hair to settle. i am no longer dying my hair anymore also.

Must try this - my hair is always dry from about midway to the ends.
