Remember how Kate Gosselin used to have seriously bad hair, and then somehow she saw the light, got a new 'do, and got all hot? Well, that's kind of what's just happened to Michelle Duggar, star of the TLC show 19 Kids & Counting.
In honor of her 46th birthday, her family got her a makeover. Seeing as how she hadn't changed her hairstyle in 40 years (yes, 4-0!) it was long overdue too.
So the stylists went to work. They chopped off eight inches, and smoothed her trademark poodle-curly mop (with straight bangs) into a sleek, stylish mane of magnificence. Goodbye 1987, hello 2012. She looks truly amazing, about 20 years younger, and dare I say it, pretty hot. I honestly don't think I would have recognized her walking down the street with her new look.
As you can see in the video below, she was shocked by the change and not all that enthusiastic about it initially. Then sadly, her husband Jim Bob had to go and throw a big old wet blanket on her new look. Twice during the reveal he said, "I do like it longer."
What a horrible reaction. It's one thing for her to be a bit tentative about her own new look, but for him to tell her she looked anything but amazing after such a big change, I think is pretty jerky. There's a time for brutal honesty, and there's a time to just tell your wife she looks beautiful. She, however, just wants to please him.
She told People, “I know Jim Bob likes it long and I am trying to impress him — what he likes is what I want,” she said. What a woman.
She says they're both getting used to it and learning to like it. I should hope so -- it's one of the best makeovers I've seen in a long time, and I hope she keeps the look regardless of what Jim Bob thinks. I don't care how many kids you have, 40 years is too long to go without an update, and this one suits her well. Let's just hope that's as far as she follows in Kate Gosselin's footsteps though.

She looks SO much better with the new look!! And he's an ass for reacting like that!
Obviously he thought she looked beautiful before. She didn't really like it, why should he pretend?
Taking a very conservative woman and throwing makeup on her, chopping her hair and straightening it is a lot to do at one time.
BTW, everyone saying she should think with her own head.... she didn't like it! Should she pretend to like it so that you will all feel better about yourself thinking you changed the backwards conservative woman?
She never said she didn't like it..she just said she has to get used to it. Her statement "what he likes is what I want" just says it all.
Thank the Lord! Those bangs of hers always looked greasy or wet and why did she make them so straight when the rest of her hair was curly? Ridiculous.

My mother had straight auburn hair down to her hips. It was pretty, but impractical - she had to pile it up on her head every day - it gave her headaches because it was so heavy. Finally at age 40 we convinced her to change it - and she did - she got it permed and cut up to her shoulders. She looked so much better - and no more 20 minute showers scrubbing all that hair. My father was so pissed he didn't talk to her for 3 months. She stuck to her guns, though, and never did grow it out again.
