5 Foods That Are Also Miracle Beauty Products

coconut oilIn some circles, a general rule is: If you can't eat it, don't use it. And with more and more weird chemicals being used in everything we buy (and weird illnesses cropping up) -- including cosmetics and beauty products -- it's with good reason. Natural is good. We know what we're getting. There aren't any deceptive surprises.

So, in the spirit of "you are what you eat", here are five delicious foods that also make fantastic beauty products.

We may not look like coconut oil fan Miranda Kerr after using (and eating) the stuff, but it's definitely one of nature's most beautifying ingredients. Substitute coconut oil for vegetable oil in recipes; eat a teaspoonful a day; slather it all over your body and hair for a super moisturizing experience -- coconut oil does it all.

  • Avocado

Avocados are one of those delicious foods that contains "good fat." But they aren't just for ingesting your omega-3s. The smushy green treat is also great as a facial mask. Try mixing an avocado with honey and yogurt for an ultra-moisturizing treatment.

  • Oatmeal

Oatmeal isn't just a warm and toasty fall breakfast treat, it's a fantastic exfoliator sure to leave your complexion glowing and smooth. Try blending some oats up (so you don't have huge flakes on your face), and mixing with a little bit of honey and water. Smooth on face and leave on for 15 minutes.

  • Olive oil

Yes, beer is fun to drink, but it's also great for your hair. The B vitamins and proteins found in malt and hops are said to repair damaged hair and boost body -- so drink (and pour) up!
