Kristen Stewart Thinks She's Too Good for Makeup Ads

Eye Roll 21

kristen stewart on cover of german glamourBefore she was getting ripped left and right for being a "trampire," Kristen Stewart definitely had her fair share of haters. I don't really blame people for being a bit turned off by the fact that the Twilight star actually seems to DESPISE being a star. Besides the fact that she scowls at cameras all the time, just about every interview she gives exhibits contempt for what one Lady Gaga once termed The Fame.

Take the most recent example. In Glamour Germany, Kristen discussed her career, which included ripping the idea of ever lending her face and name to a makeup campaign ...

She says:

I would never work with people who aren’t really creative and aren’t committed to what they do. Unfortunately, there are a lot of those people out there, they are f***ing everywhere, and they try to suck the soul out of you. For example, I would never do a makeup campaign, even though the [final] photos with me would probably look good. Thank you, but it doesn’t interest me.

Fair enough if it doesn't "interest" her. There's no reason she should feel obligated to do something that she's not into. But to act as though it's "soul-sucking" work and basically insinuate that the people involved in those campaigns "aren't really creative and aren't committed to what they do"? Puhhhleeez!

Shilling for a lipstick, mascara, hair product, or face wash is absolutely legitimate work for an actress. Most of us don't look down on someone like Andie MacDowell, Sarah Jessica Parker, or Beyonce for doing it. We just figure it's par for the course. And, when you think about it, selling makeup's not exactly any different from selling a magazine by appearing on its cover or selling a major film franchise. And wait, how about perfume? Apparently, makeup's out, but she's cool with being the face of Balenciaga's Florabotanica fragrance ... Riddle me how that double-standard works?

Never mind that, though. Once Breaking Dawn: Part 2 comes out, she'll be stickin' to indie flicks thankyouverymuch. More power to her, but she shouldn't be surprised if she hits some walls along the way. After all, I'm sure some people in the biz are already fed up with her persistent need to bite the hand that feeds her.

Do you get where KStew is coming from or are you totally rolling your eyes at her hypocritical remark?
