britney spearsWith the Democratic National Convention well underway, I think it's time we talk about some serious issues here. Like what Britney Spears said about Kim Kardashian in her interview with Elle recently. The pop songstress, who may or may not (definitely may) post old photos of herself on Facebook under the auspice that they're "new", let it be known that there is no way in fresh hell she could ever be Kim Kardashian -- because Kim Kardashian spends 16 out of her 17 waking hours getting her hair and face did. And that would only allot one hour a day for walking around gas station bathrooms barefoot.

I kid. But here's what Spears said to the mag: "I love my jeans and my sweats. I’m really just a tomboy at heart. So it’s really hard for me to be like Kim Kardashian and be makeup-and hair-ready every time I go out of my house. I’m not a believer in that, you know? On the other hand, when you do wear those sweats, you’re like, Oh God, I should step it up a notch."

I hear you, Britney. Although being Kim Kardashian obviously comes with its perks (you get to be ridiculously gorgeous and balls-to-the-wall rich), holy mother, it seems exhausting. I mean, did you see her makeup tutorial? I think it took Michelangelo less time to paint the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. I totally get that Kim's appearance is a large part of her career -- girl's in the business of looking good -- but I don't think her livelihood would be compromised if she walked around bare-faced and in jeans once in a while. She's a beautiful woman no matter what.

So, don't get down on yourself, Brit Brit, for not being a glamourpuss 24:7. That takes a special kind of commitment. And, moreover, it doesn't seem remotely fun. Who wants to spend all that time in a makeup chair before they run out to grab a carton of milk?
