Miley Cyrus Called Out for Being 'Gay' Because of Her Short Hair

Eye Roll 11

Miley CyrusOk, so I know the general consensus seems to be that her new pixie cut is pretty drastic and not the most attractive look she's ever sported, but would you believe Evan Rachel Wood suggested Miley Cyrus is gay because she chopped off her long locks?! (Oh no she didn't!)

Yep -- she went there alright. After seeing a picture that Miley tweeted of her shorter hairdo, Evan Rachel Wood responded with, "I knew it! Miley Cyrus is leaning toward gay."

Wow. Seriously?

Maybe I'm missing the boat on this one, but since when does the length of your hair have anything to do with your sexual preferences? There are plenty of women both in Hollywood and from the regular-folk crowd who have super-short hair, and also happen to be straight.

If Miley is gay for going the pixie route, then does that mean men who let their hair grow out long and wild are also secretly trying to tell the world they're gay? And along the same lines, are gay women with long hair and gay men with short hair somehow conflicted about their sexuality too? I know, I know, I'm being ridiculous and extreme. But that's exactly what Evan Rachel Wood's comment was, so I think I'm raising appropriate questions based on what she said.

And Miley's loyal fans weren't exactly pleased with Wood's statement, which prompted her to backpedal by saying:

Ok. To be clear. I believe you should be able to joke and have a sense of humour about everything. And I hate explaining, but just to be clear, I don’t judge people on how they look. Nor do I associate a hair style with sexuality. I myself am bisexual and have always ‘joked’ about Miley giving me gay vibes. Not a bad thing! Just an observation. So I ‘joked’ when she cut her hair that it supported my case. But, I am not so close minded or into stereotypes or labeling. It was a joke. I could (not) care less what gender she was attracted to. But don’t hate me for supporting her in whatever she chooses. It’s all fine by me.

(Yeah, ok. Whatever you say, Evan.)

Do you think Evan Rachel Wood's comment to Miley was offensive?

I think its just a joke and I like mileys hair. It's refreshing to see a woman in Hollywood not afraid to break out of the norm and look a little different

You know what?

It wasn't offensive, because being gay is not offensive.

I don't think it was offensive. Even Miley was like whatever, let's be friends. It wouldn't bother me if someone said that to me.

If someone is assuming or joking that I'm gay because of my haircut or appearance, I would take offense because I would think that they are categorizing who I am based on my looks. (This is coming from someone who takes what people say to heart and is a softy on the inside.)

My neighbor just got a buzz cut this summer. She is married with three kids, but she MUST be gay! LOL. And even if she is ... who cares?!? The same goes for Miley. I also had a pixie cut several years ago, so I guess I am gay and didn't even know it! Wow!

Offensive? No.

She was joking. Maybe more people should quit working so hard at always being the victim, and trying working a little more on developing a sense of humor-

Good grief

It wasn't offensive, but more untactful.  Given the sensitive climate with homosexuals and whether or not to coming out of the closet is harmful to one's career, the "joke" was in poor taste.

I got this joke a lot when I died my hair red (funny assumption right??) I didn't take it to heart because I am who I am regardless of the chatter, same goes for Miley. Besides its kinda funny and even if people aren't joking when they say it you still get to laugh at their pure uncensored stupidity ;)

She is still attractive and beautiful and every guy still wants her even if she was bald they would still be after her.
Even before she chopped of a lot of her hair women also wanted her and they still do. j/s
