Miley CyrusOk, so I know the general consensus seems to be that her new pixie cut is pretty drastic and not the most attractive look she's ever sported, but would you believe Evan Rachel Wood suggested Miley Cyrus is gay because she chopped off her long locks?! (Oh no she didn't!)

Yep -- she went there alright. After seeing a picture that Miley tweeted of her shorter hairdo, Evan Rachel Wood responded with, "I knew it! Miley Cyrus is leaning toward gay."

Wow. Seriously?

Maybe I'm missing the boat on this one, but since when does the length of your hair have anything to do with your sexual preferences? There are plenty of women both in Hollywood and from the regular-folk crowd who have super-short hair, and also happen to be straight.

If Miley is gay for going the pixie route, then does that mean men who let their hair grow out long and wild are also secretly trying to tell the world they're gay? And along the same lines, are gay women with long hair and gay men with short hair somehow conflicted about their sexuality too? I know, I know, I'm being ridiculous and extreme. But that's exactly what Evan Rachel Wood's comment was, so I think I'm raising appropriate questions based on what she said.

And Miley's loyal fans weren't exactly pleased with Wood's statement, which prompted her to backpedal by saying:

Ok. To be clear. I believe you should be able to joke and have a sense of humour about everything. And I hate explaining, but just to be clear, I don’t judge people on how they look. Nor do I associate a hair style with sexuality. I myself am bisexual and have always ‘joked’ about Miley giving me gay vibes. Not a bad thing! Just an observation. So I ‘joked’ when she cut her hair that it supported my case. But, I am not so close minded or into stereotypes or labeling. It was a joke. I could (not) care less what gender she was attracted to. But don’t hate me for supporting her in whatever she chooses. It’s all fine by me.

(Yeah, ok. Whatever you say, Evan.)

Do you think Evan Rachel Wood's comment to Miley was offensive?
