Getting a tan used to be as easy as slathering on the baby oil and opening up your homemade reflective panel made of tin foil, but these days, you have to be a little more careful. I hear that the sun isn't really that good for you and can cause cancer, so everyone, take heed.
Before you step out to the pool with your spray bottle of an iodine concoction your wrinkled aunt gave you, here's a pro tip about a self-tanner that's a cut above the rest.
The number one selling self-tanner at Sephora is Perfekt. No brushes, no sponges, you just squirt some into your hand and pat into your skin. There's gel for your face, and for your body. It looks like they're rubbing mud on and that it would look super dark, but it smooths in nicely and provides even coverage.
Listen, I'm sold. I've tried every self-tanner under the sun and I've hated every last one of them. The smell is enough to make me gag, the streaking is, at best, comical, at worst, night-ruining, the color so far from natural that people have wondered, aloud, to my face, what the hell happened to me.
I'm a sucker for anything purporting to be the best, but Perfekt sounds like it might live up to the hype. They've received tons of positive reviews and hey, I like the guy in the video. He could probably sell me a beachfront home in Omaha, where I could no doubt show off my Perfekt tan on the shore, but that's neither here nor there. I'm just excited there might be something out there that will actually give us a realistic tan without the smell, the smudging, or the streaking.
Do you use self tanner? What's your favorite product?
