Anna Paquin's Dyed Hair Proves Natural Brunettes Look Just as Great Blond

anna paquinBeauty and the Beast may be the tale as old as time, but the second oldest tale is that of a woman and her hair dye. At some point or another, most of us have at least dabbled in the stuff and there are some, of course, who just can't live without it. Hair dye's transformative powers are endless and having control over your look is half the fun of experimenting with the different shades. Celebs know this just as much as we lay people -- a bad dye job is the great equalizer, and a good dye job, well, that's something worth fighting for.

True Blood's Anna Paquin is a natural brunette, but she's now a soft blond for her role as Sookie Stackhouse. Pegged to Anna, here's the question: does bottle blond hair look good on people with naturally brunette features, such as olive skin and brown eyes?

Hell yeah it does. Well, mostly. Here's the thing. It doesn't matter what features you have, or how dark your eyes are or whatever, what matters is the color and the quality of the dye you use.anna paquin

A lot of natural brunettes look ridiculous with their dyed blond hair, but that's not because they're natural brunettes, it's because they went to a crappy stylist who didn't know what he or she was doing. The hair care business is a $55 billion global industry -- there's a lot of products out there that can make or break your look.

The best dye job in recent memory is Britney Spears' hair circa the early 2000s. Brit's a brunette with big brown eyes and her dyed blond hair worked to accentuate her gorgeous peepers and tanned skin. Sure she had help from extensions, but matching those to your complexion can be just as tricky as dyeing your hair.

The worst one that comes to mind is Jessica Alba. She's been blond and back several times, mainly all for movie roles, but none of the colors she's played around with have worked. Her hair always comes out looking yellow. She's obviously a stunning woman, and I think the right blond would look great on her, but she just hasn't nailed it yet.

My bottom line? It's all about the dye, and less about your features. You can make almost any hair color look great if you do it right. Easier said than done, though.

What's your take?
