You know what every fashionista needs in her closet right now? A maxi skirt. Seriously ladies, they're like the style staple of the summer, so go out and buy one like ... TODAY.
I love to slip into a maxi for any occasion because they're so easily dressed up or down for any event -- and soooo comfortable! So mamas, listen up: maxis pass the test when it comes to chasing your tot around all day. Hoorah!
But you want to hear the real reason I die for this flowy find? It's flattering on every figure! It's like the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants .... but for skirts, people.
I'm a little self conscious of my legs so I'm always looking for alternatives to shorts. I prefer the loose look, especially as a heat wave hits. And maxis help to elongate the leg, making you look leaner and they help accentuate the positive, like a teeny waist.
Since you're probably all OMG, I'm going to the mall right now, here are five maxi skirt styles to shop for:

hey dont have the rockin n reelin skirt in stock anymore :( wahhhhhhhh
um, not everybody can wear this skirt. At 5' tall, this is just going to make me look like a short, squatty, elf. And I second the squishy thighs comment!LOL
@TorranceMom lol! Agree! You have to be a long, stick-like body to work this look. I have hips so that horizontal striped one would be traumatic and the others would just make me look, well, like a fat ass.
I agree with the others, I don't understand why so many people think that maxi skirts are "figure flattering", I honestly think they are not very forgiving and tend to make you look like your wearing the proverbial "gunny sack" if you are bottom heavy at all. I tend to prefer the tiered ones that hug the hips a bit more, and get wider at every tier, so they do hug my hips a bit more, and give me a bit of shape, otherwise, that whole straight down look just makes me look, for want of a better word, fat.
Also, as others have said, they are always way too long for me, and I'm not even that short, I'm 5'5, I always have to hem them up, otherwise they are dragging on the ground, I like mine a couple inches above my ankles at least, maybe even 3-4. I don't however have a problem with sweaty thighs rubbing together, and I do find them to be a nice choice, with a lacy tank top, especially on summer evenings when you want to look pretty but still be comfy :)
