Fans always found Jewel endearing, not just because of her amazing musical talent but also for the cute snaggletooth smile.
Well, that signature grin is gone. Yep. The folksy crooner now has a new picture perfect smile. It looks like she fixed her teeth to play June Cash in the Lifetime biopic The June Carter Cash Story. Yea, a flick for that cheesy women's network.
Now don't get me wrong. I love me some Lifetime movies. My all time faves: Confessions of a Go-Go Girl and Cyber Seduction: His Secret Life. (Hey! Don't let the title fool you. Riveting stuff, if not exactly Oscar worthy.)
But was a TV movie worth Jewel doing what she swore she would never do? That crooked smile even inspired her song, "I'm Not Gonna Fix My Teeth." She has even ranted on stage about how she was sick of people asking her about her teeth and suggesting she should get a new set of chompers.
What happened to that cool, down-to-earth defiance? I'll tell you what happened -- Hollywood. It's amazing she lasted this long with even the slightest imperfection. She also dyed her blonde hair dark brown for the role, but that is a temporary fix. My hope is that her new smile is just a bit of movie magic too. You know, a fake set of teeth to make her look more June Carter-ish. Because crooked or not, Jewel's smile was perfect as is.
What do you think of Jewel's new grill?
