Most of us would get down on our knees and thank the gods above if we could afford to spend $100,000 on a handbag, so it was no surprise that fashionistas, as well as regular folk, were aflame with irritation when Clint Eastwood's daughter, Francesca, burned a pricey fire engine red crocodile Birkin bag at a photoshoot for her new reality show, Mrs. Eastwood & Co. In fact, people got so burned up about it, that Francesca has received death threats on Twitter.
Some of the more lively Tweets:
-- "Some of us actually have to work and live check 2 check, spoiled rotten bitch to burn 100k bag."
-- "You’re a stupid whore. How f***ing dumb can you be."
-- "You should kill urself, ungrateful bitch – wasted money when families can't eat."
No one deserves death threats who caused no harm to anyone or anything except a freaking purse, people. But, that said, this was in pretty poor taste. It goes to show you how much of an economic bubble the daughter of an extremely rich man lives in that a) burning a bag worth $100,000 was even feasible for her, and b) she didn't think this would get people in a bad mood.
Francesca has apparently told her friends that the angry responses took her by surprise and that the bag burning was an artistic statement. She also groused that people just don't understand art.
Francesca, get over yourself, hon. You didn't burn the bag in the middle of the Guggenheim. You burned it on a reality show. The reality show that you yourself has said has "Kardashian appeal." Do YOU understand art? Apparently not or you would have burned your Birkin in front of an art critic, not the E! cameras.
Do you think burning a Birkin bag is an artistic statement or the act of a bratty chick with too much money?

Seince it was just a photoshoot could it had been just a prop-bag???
Does anyone know forsure?
& if it was SHAME ON HER
I don't see how what she does with the bag makes a difference. The bag still cost $100,000 everyone got paid who needed to be paid and the bag is just as useful burrned as it is sitting in a closet. Most famous people don't even buy half the posh stuff they own. I mean she's obviously out of touch but death threats seem more than a little over the top.
She could expound on the "artistic statement" she was making by actually explaining the statement. But, of course, there isn't one. She and her boyfriend were simply doing something outrageous for air time on their reality show.
I'm with Celiacelia... I could have taken that bag off her hands and put it to good use.
This was a very poor cry for attention! This family is extremely ridiculous and embarassing! If I was Clint, I'd be mortified. His wife and kids are tacky and might have changed my opinion of him as well. Sad! :(
This was probably done for publicity. The bag was probably donated to them. Just because it could have been sold for 100k, doesn't mean thats how much it cost to make. Its probably really worth under 1k. I'm just speculating though, I only saw the first episode. If the fam really bought and paid 100k for the bag, its pretty disgusting and wrong.
What in the world makes a purse worth 100,000 to begin with?
