Just when we thought we'd heard it all as far as wacky plastic surgery procedures go, the growing trend of women getting "foot jobs" has us shaking our heads. Apparently some ladies just aren't willing to give up their favorite pair of high heels -- even if it means having to alter their feet in order to fit into them. Wait a minute -- didn't Cinderella teach us anything when we were little girls? If the shoe doesn't fit, then you probably shouldn't be wearing it?
These foot procedures, which have affectionately been dubbed "Loub Jobs," after famous heel designer Christian Louboutin, involve getting dermal fillers injected into the heels, balls of the feet, or even the toe pads. And oh yeah -- some women are even getting full blown "toe tucks" (actually having the sides of their pinkie toes shaved down) in order to cram their feet into trendy heels. (What the heck?)
Am I the only one who finds this idea really extreme, not to mention pretty creepy and gross?
It sounds kind of similar to the old Chinese tradition of hobbling feet in order to make them smaller than they are to fit into little shoes. (You know, because tiny feet are just way more attractive and sexy on a woman than big ol' clunkers.)
I guess I can sort of understand why more and more women are seeking a little help to adjust the comfort factor of mile-high stilettos. But resorting to plastic surgery just to be able to walk in your shoes? Really? Believe it or not, there are these magic little things called gel inserts that you can pick up in any drug store, and they're a whole lot less pricey than heading to a surgeon.
And honestly, if there are so many women having such a huge problem wearing heels these days, then what does that say about the health factor of wearing them in the first place? They are very stylish and make your legs look smokin' hot, but plenty of physicians agree that heels just aren't good for your feet. Kicking them off for good and switching to flats is a great alternative to surgery, especially since there are so many cute styles on store shelves right now.
Would you ever consider getting a "Loub Job"?

Yikes. Not as bad as the Chinese foot-binding practice that everyone agrees was barbaric and petty (look it up if you don't know), but still hits close.
Okay I would never ACTUALLY get a foot job... but I always WISHED I could - not to fit into heels - that is a dumb reason IMO. BUT my toes, especially on one foot, are all squished ... some are longer than others and not in the right way either. So... I always wished I could get some cute toes... :) LOL... that said, I am thankful for the toes I have, b/c they really fine, if a bit homely, and I am blessed to be able to walk when others can't so... I'd never actually go under the knife just for the sake of my vanity! :)
Ugh, seriously, this is so sad. I almost never wear high heels (unless I know I'm going to be mostly sitting! LMAO), I'm all about cute ballet flats or boots at the office! Heck even pretty sandals in summer :)
I've heard about the fillers in feet but not the "toe jobs". That's...that's whack. If wearing those kinds of shoes hurts your feet, guess what, your body is trying to send you a message - "These are hurting me you should not be wearing them!!!"
we lose weight to fit into beautiful clothes, if someone wants to alter their feet to fit into beautiful shoes i say cool i wish i could and i would with my size 9 wide feet
My toes on both feet like a$$ retarded... I probably should have been wearing corrective shoes when I was little. So I would get a foot job simply for those. I very rarely wear heels so no big issues. And the heels I do have are made as comfortable as possible with the gel thingys your talking about.
And the chinese hobbing thing is about a bazillion times worse. They physically broke the foot and bound it underneath when the girl was three years old. Causing years of pain and all kinds of other problems.
the fillers in the balls of feet actually sounds like a good idea- gel inserts slip, thats just asking for trouble in high shoes.
Wow, I love my heels but I would NEVER have surgery to wear anything. I wear the low heels, no more than 2 inches (ok, MAYBE 2 and a half, I don't actually measure them). They make me feel sexy and good about myself. It's weird, but it gives me a confidence boost and I only buy ones that I can walk in. I only wear them to work if I can walk in them for an hour w/o feeling like I dropped a truck on my feet. Also, some of the doctors I work with suggest alternating the shoes you wear either day by day (flat, low heel, flat, low heel, etc) or even every 2 to 3 hours. That's not hard to do for cubicle dwellers like me. Let's me honest, I kick mine off and sit barefoot at my desk for most of the day.
Just be good to your body and it will be good to you. Those sexy heels are NOT good for you!
