Kate Middleton is a style icon for sure, but even she looks to other people for inspiration sometimes. And even though pretty much any designer in the world would likely jump at the chance for Kate to be seen wearing one of their creations, Kate accepted a dress from an unlikely source for her first public speech at a children's hospital this week.
Get this -- she took the blue belted dress straight from her own mum's closet! How cute is that?
The fact that she chose to wear something that belongs to her mother makes her even more lovable and amazing than she already is. (Translation -- now I have an even bigger girl crush on her.)
It's highly doubtful that Kate will continue to borrow her mother's style for every occasion going forward. I mean -- at 30 years old, she is a little young to do the whole, "Oh my God, I'm becoming my mother" thing.
But then again, I'm 34, and I've found myself being more and more drawn to my mother's style as I get older. Wanna know why? Because most of the time, she looks a hell of a lot more comfortable in her clothes than I feel in some of mine. She's a big Chico's lover, and up until a year or two ago, I always thought of Chico's as kind of a "mom" store. Because, well -- you know, young, hip gals like me don't shop at "mom" stores.
But wait a minute -- as it turns out, I am a mom. (Who knew?) And I want to be comfy yet stylish at the same time. And I guess that's why I've found myself stopping and admiring some of the items in the Chico's window every time I go to the mall. Yep -- I'm becoming my mother, and I'm proud of it. Come to think of it, I may have to head over to Chico's this weekend to check out their spring collection. If Kate Middleton can dress like her mom, then so can I.
To see more of Kate in her mum's dress, take a look at the video clip below. She really looked stunning -- she should raid her mother's closet more often!
