Bleached Eyebrows Make You Look Old & Scary

bleached eyebrowsNo. I cannot get behind this bleached eyebrow look, no matter how, uh, high-brow it becomes. Daphne Groeneveld, a Dutch model best known for covering French Vogue, is on the cover of the Paris magazine Self-Service with white, white eyebrows, leading us to believe this is some sort of "trend." We've seen the bleached eyebrow look before -- Rooney Mara's character Lisbeth Salander had nearly invisible brows in the movie Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.

It's one thing, though, to use the look to enhance the eccentricities and counter-cultureness of a character, it's entirely another to try and make bleached eyebrows some sort of fashion statement. Because, no. Just! No.

I am a firm believer that any beauty trend should make one look more beauteous, if not a little bit more modern. But bleached eyebrows do neither for a woman. In fact, they make her look older and, yeah, a little bit creepy.

Eyebrows do so much to shape our faces and I'm very much into the large, thick, and full brows that have been in style for a few years now. Brooke Shields, Audrey Hepburn, and Liz Taylor looked great with their full brows back in the day, and Camilla Belle, Lily Collins, and even Kendall Jenner are currently doing the trend proud with their large and in charge eyebrows. A fuller brow signifies youth and strength -- nothing wrong with that, right?

Hopefully a thick brow will be around forever -- I'd hate to see a devolution back to the early '90s when women plucked their brows as thin as pencil lines. Yeesh. That was terrible, and borderline irrevocable.

And yes, I'd hate it even more if this bleached business takes off. It's not pretty, it's not feasible, and it's not doing anyone any favors. Bleach is totally blech.

What do you think of the bleached brow look?
